RICHARD LAVERY
I was born in the UK, but after training in science, I moved to India, and then to France, where I have now lived and worked as a researcher for more than 40 years, at first in Paris, and, more recently, in Lyon. Photography has always been a part of my life, but my interest has been stimulated by the possibilities of digital photography and I have developed my approach to image making through reading and practical courses, notably having the chance to work with Jonathan Critchley and Albert Watson. I have always been drawn to graphical images and although I used to concentrate on architecture and urban scenes, I am now mainly interested in portrait photography and figure studies and work principally in the studio.
